EXCLUSIVE: FREE LURE OFFER FOR ONLINE CUSTOMERS ONLY!

The famous Little Lucifer is the standout lure of this size.

The lure’s designer Jeff Reid, once told Mick “I think the Little Lucifer had the potential of being the greatest barra lure of all time.”

A quick glance into the tackle boxes of our most successful fishing guides would suggest that that prediction may already be fact. True barra fisherman go nowhere without a vast selection of Little Lucifers!

With the Reidy`s fast tail beat, body roll & internal rattles this lure is irresistible to many types of fish. The lure body is made from ABS plastic & the bib is made of polycarbonate, the lure weighs 11g & is 65mm in length excluding the bib.

There are two models, the original, made here in Darwin, which runs at about 2.5 metres, and the Moulded Bib model, designed originally for export, but such a hit with the guides it also has become a legend.

The optimum depth for trolling billabongs is between 6 and 10 feet. We often run the original model on the inside next to the bank and the Export Model slightly deeper on the outside.

Lucifers can be little devils at times!

AS a fishing guide, I have used both variations of Little Lucifer for the last ten years, as well as on my own personal fishing trips. They are a proven and reliable lure, especially here in the tropics,  and always seem to get the results.

l have to say they are one of the most lethal lures on the market for barra, jacks and all other species of sport fish, with a nice tight action, and just enough roll to make them interesting.

Little Lucifer Moulded Bib

Little Lucifer  is effective in any of our many billabongs,  being the most popular in this environment,  and now being used in the saltwater for trevally queen fish and other pelagics, as well as barra and bream. bream.

There is a great range of colours and depth from  2.5metre to 3metre. They might be small but they have undone many a big fish.

Shady Camp Barra

Dwayne and Laura caught some good fish out at Shady Camp freshwater last weekend, but as always the girls always get the best! This was her 75cm best caught on a Barra Classic and her trusty Pink Ugly Stik Combo

Meanwhile Dwayne took our advice on lure selection fishing for Queenies at the Larakeyhah Rockwall.

“Thanks Mick. I got two queenies over a metre usiing the Silver Viper you put me onto!

The Viper is a big fish lure. The head is bulky to simulate a large baitfish and the tail is slim to maximise hook exposure. More about Vipers here.

In his book “Barra,’ Rod Harrison says “By the time Rob Smith applied his creativity to producing an 18cm 6″ Barra Lure carrying the three sets of trebles the market demanded, there weren’t a lot of distinctive profiles left.

He did well to come up with a shape that not only demonstrates originality but delivers a performance that makes it a #1 seller at locations like Awoonga!” Find out more

And, we might add, the Daly, the Adelaide, the South ,and Manton Dam!

Purpose designed action
In the water, the Viper sends out fish attracting vibrations, and noise from its rattle chamber. The action is narrow, rock ‘n roll, as preferred by many barra experts. Expert choice
Neil Schultz, well known fishing writer, rates Viper his number one lure for big barramundi. Neil’s results have helped Viper earn an enviable reputation for performance in Queensland impoundments.

Using a Viper, Neil captured one of the largest barramundi (35kg – 77lb) ever caught on a rod and reel at Lake Tinaroo in N. Qld. It was a record that stood for two years.

John Mondora, another well known writer, rates Viper as important equipment for targeting large barra.

There are currently three models, shallow, 4 metres and 6 metres.

The Amazing 128 LED Cordless Camp & Work Light

Friday, June 13th, 2008

When Jamie Brotherton from Donut King at Palmerston recently prepared for a two week boat trip to the Kimberly’s, his light of choice was our new 128 LED Camp & Work Light.

“This is an amazing light,” Jamie told me on his return. “It’s incredibly bright, there were quite a few of us and it lit up the whole camp site each night. It recharges fast, from either 240 volt or 12 volt, and each charge lasts for several hours. It can also be run straight off the power source without recharging. Best light we’ve ever had!”

The 128 LED Camp and work light is actually designed as an under bonnet work light for workshops, mechanics and roadside breakdowns. The Lightweight, soft grip handles slide and adjust to wherever you want to attach it either horizontally of vertical.

Recently, at Charlie’s wedding, we used two of these lights, one for the entertainment area and to cook with. We found them fantastic, last between 4 to five hours, and with a four hour recharge time.

Other customers are using them in their boats for overnight trips, fixing them either under the gunwales or under the canopy. Find out more here

Outback Travelmate is Great

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

from Fishing Monthly February 2008

I’ve always been a fan of portable fridge freezers for the simple reason they rock!

They keep things frozen and other things cold and thats just fantastic with me. The only problem I had was affording one and they always seemed to be just out onf my financial reach.

This all changed when the popular ice box making company Downunder developed and released their range of portable fridge freezers, the Outback Travelmate Series. There are three models, a 45litre, 55litre and 70 litre, and all have a two year warranty, which is good for someone like me who seems to break expensive things pretty easily. And they are cheap in comparison to most other fridge freezers on the market. The 45 litre model for around $799 and the 55l for about $890.

Like most fisherman, big is better so I went for the fifty five litre model, and I have never looked back. Click here for the rest of this article

New Fishing & Camping Guide a “Pearler!”

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

Dick Eussen's Fishing & Camping Guide to the Northern TerritoryDick Eussen’s new Fishing & Camping Guide to the Northern Territory is a “pearler”!

This is the most comprehensive guide to fishing and camping we have ever seen.

As Rex Hunt says in the foreword “Anglers travel from all around the world to expereince this magnificent environment and it’s greatest fish, the mighty barramundi. But this untamed wilderness just doesn’t have the barra. There are countless species of other sportfish to be caught from offshore right up to the most remote of gutters.

For over half a century I have been entertained and educated by Dick Eussen” says Rex Hunt. “I can safely say that no one has more knowledge of the Top End of Australia than Dick. Fishing Camping 4 wheel driving, adventuring, you name it and he is the man.”

There is nothing left out of this book. There are detailed maps, which will give visiting anglers, like me, heaps pf imformation on where to go. The book is complemented by stunning photography, and of course there are well documented pieces on how to catch the fish of this unique part of the world.”  Find out more
