When retrieved with the rod tip up the “Skin Deep” bib allows the lure to swim with its back just breaking the surface of the water, with a low rod tip the lure will swim at around 10cm.
Ever been in a situation where you desperately need a shallow Scorpion and you only have a deep diving version? You can still retrieve it near the surface using a special retrieve. Crank the lure in for a couple of seconds then slow the retrieve right down so that the buoyancy starts bringing it back to the surface, then speed up the retrieve again.
